Unsolicited marketing

We are not the enforcing authority for unsolicited marketing.

Unsolicited mail, unsolicited telephone calls and text messages

The Citizens Advice Bureau provides advice on the actions you can take to stop unsolicited mail, telephone calls and text messages including information on the schemes that allow consumers to register their wish not to receive unsolicited telephone calls and text messages.

Unsolicited emails

The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 cover the sending of marketing emails. This legislation says that organisations must only send marketing emails to individuals if you have agreed to receive them, except where there is clearly a defined customer relationship.

Report a concern

You can report unwanted telephone calls, text messages and emails to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) who will use the information you provide to help investigate and take action against those responsible.
