Household furniture on East Hill

Fly-tipping on East Hill

Household furniture was dumped over flower beds off East Hill over the weekend of April 5.

Not only is fly-tipping selfish and illegal, it also harms the environment.

The beds opposite Darenth Road were recently planted to boost biodiversity in the town centre.

Fortunately we’ve been able to clear up the waste quickly, and we’re determined to catch those who think it’s okay to leave a mess around our town.

Dumped trailer on Bobb Dunn Way

Someone ‘lost’ their trailer on Bob Dunn Way overnight on Tuesday, April 22.

The trailer dangerously blocking traffic for drivers on the Wednesday morning commute. We’re removing it, but would love to speak to whoever thought it was safe to dump a trailer on a busy road.

If you saw anything, or have any dashcam footage, please let us know.

Fly tip - Windemere Close

We're still appealing for information after waste was dumped in Windermere Close, Wilmington on February 16, 2024.

We're particularly interested to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of the vehicle pictured, which has a notable 'quarantine' sign partially torn on the back.

Fly tip - Lower Hythe Street

Commercial waste was dumped on October 27, 2024. The waste was dumped in the road outside several businesses whose trade was affected by the waste.

Waste carriers fined

We’ve successfully convicted two men of carrying large quantities of metal waste without a proper license.

Clamping down on unlicensed waste carriers supports legitimate businesses who remove waste, and can also help to prevent fly-tipping.

Joint proactive work between our Environmental Enforcement team and Kent Police saw Frankie Shepherd, 25, and Florin Constantine, 27, stopped in separate incidents last year.

Constantine was stopped in Henderson Drive last July, where a large quantity of waste was discovered in the back of his Mercedes Sprinter. He was issued with a fixed penalty notice for not possessing a waste carrier’s licence.

Constantine, of Plumstead, failed to pay the FPN. He then failed to attend Sevenoaks Magistrates Court last Friday and was found guilty in his absence. He was fined a total of £1,625.

Shepherd, from Dartford, was stopped in Green Street Green Road last September and was found to be carrying a large quantity of waste metal in the back of a Ford Transit van. As he didn’t possess a waste carrier’s licence, he was issued a fixed penalty notice, but failure to pay meant he was summonsed to court.

Shepherd failed to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates Court last Friday. He was found guilty in his absence and handed a total fine of £989.

Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal following vandalism at Acacia pond.

We have obtained the information we required and have ended our appeal.

Grafitti

A persistent tag has been appearing across Dartford for some time.

The tags have been spotted around Dartford town centre, most recently at the end of Powder Mill Lane and Hawley Road in February.

If you can help us find the 'Riot' tagger, get in touch.
