Strategic priorities
The Council has identified four key priorities for the Domestic Abuse Housing Strategy:
Priority 1: Victim Prevention and Early Intervention
- To protect victims from future harm and ensure the right support is available.
Priority 2: Working in Partnership to tackle Domestic Abuse and Violence Against Women and Girls
- To work with local agencies to provide a coordinated response when supporting victim/survivors.
Priority 3: Education, Communication and Campaigning
- To ensure that Council Housing Service staff receive appropriate training, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.
Priority 4: To achieve Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) accreditation by 2026
- In partnership with Kent County Council, the Council has signed up to The Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) to work towards achieving accreditation. This is the UK benchmark for how housing providers should respond to domestic abuse in the UK. By becoming accredited with the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA), Dartford Council Housing Services will be taking a stand to ensure we deliver safe and effective responses to domestic abuse.
Each priority consists of actions which the Council will deliver on over the three-year strategy period. These actions are set out in Appendix A of this strategy.
