About the consultation
We’re inviting views on our draft Anti-Social Behaviour and Hate Incident Policy.
Anti-social behaviour is conduct that has caused, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to any person.
Hate incidents are a type of anti-social behaviour motivated by hostility or prejudice towards protected characteristics including; race, religion, disability, sexual orientation and transgender identity.
We’ve reviewed our existing Anti-Social Behaviour Policy to ensure it is up to date. As part of the review we’ve included setting out more clearly how incidents motivated by hate are deterred and tackled in the neighbourhoods where we provide social housing; and propose to rename the policy ‘Anti-Social Behaviour and Hate Incident Policy’.
We’d like to hear views from our tenants, leaseholders, members of the public and partner agencies on the draft updated policy as your feedback is useful in further shaping and influencing the policy.
What does the draft Anti-Social Behaviour and Hate Incident Policy say?
The draft Anti-Social Behaviour and Hate Incident Policy outlines the approach the Council takes towards tackling anti-social behaviour in the Borough, incorporating the roles and responsibilities of the Community Safety Unit, Housing Service and Environmental Health Service. The policy explains:
- How to report anti-social behaviour
- How reports will be prioritised and investigated
- The actions and powers available to the Council to stop anti-social behaviour
- How victims and witnesses are supported
- How we work with partners such as the police to prevent and tackle anti-social behaviour
