Street Care and Cleaning
The street care and cleaning service is designed to meet the standards in the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Region's Code of Practice on Litter and Refuse.
Our street cleaning crews remove litter, detritus and leaves across the borough. Kent County Council are responsible for most highway matters including repairing pot holes, grass cuttings, highway drainage, salting roads and snow clearance.
All highway adopted roads are usually swept on a daily, weekly, fortnightly or four weekly basis. The town centre has a dedicated team who clean the High Street and surrounding area daily, main roads are cleaned fortnightly and most residential roads are cleaned four weekly via mechanical sweeping vehicles and/or a street care team (2 operatives/vans).

In addition to our street cleaning regime, we also have a dedicated team of traditional street cleaning barrows who deep clean residential streets across the borough throughout the year. Find which ward they are deep cleaning.
Report an Issue
If you notice a location that requires attention then you can report the need for street sweeping/cleansing.
Due to our street cleaning schedule, it may not be possible to clean the area straight-away, and it may take up to 4 weeks to have the reported area cleaned.
If you notice any syringes, please do not touch or hide them. Please report them online.
We aim to remove all discarded drug paraphernalia within 24 hours of being reported.
